To celebrate the Women's Euros and Men’s World Cup football competitions this year, Meta4 Dance Company will create a new family dance show for 9-12-year-olds which follows a football team as they test and build relationships, confidence, and teamwork all while having a kick about.
Blending fancy footwork and athletic prowess, seven dancers are busy having football sessions with Northumberland Football Association whilst creating the new piece over two weeks in Dance City and Alnwick Playhouse.
The team includes costume by Daisy FitzPatrick, dramaturgy by Joe Hufton and produced by Moving Art Management.
Meta4 are honoured to be sharing this project with their valued partners and supporters - Arts Council England, Dance City, Alnwick Playhouse, Northumberland County Council, November Club, RISE, and Northumberland Football Association. (*)
Rooted in Northumberland and led by directors Lily Horgan and Charlie Dunne, Meta4 creates emotive work shaped by their environment and experiences. They focus on providing access to high-quality dance performances and engagement for people with learning disabilities and communities who experience rural isolation.
The show will be brought to Northumberland audiences over October half term, with a free dance football workshop for all members of the family to start, followed by a ticketed performance of ‘Jumpers for Goalposts’. To find out when the show is near you, go to their website - www.meta4dance.com
"We are really looking forward to bringing together football and dance to create an exciting dance piece for families in Northumberland, especially in between the Women's Euros and Men’s World Cup!"
