“The whole performance was amazing. The design of the set and the whole experience. It made me think more about our young people and the struggles they go through. Fantastic performance by all. The young people should be very proud of themselves.” – Flux audience member
“Creating Flux has been really exciting - We’ve made a show that I think will be interesting and engaging to all sorts of people: Flux is energetic, mysterious, and above all brave.” - Ensemble Young Company member Maisie

Mortal Fools presents Flux.

Twelve unique young voices come together on stage, to explore what it means to question your identity in a world that feels determined to put you in a box.

Devised and performed by the young people living through this reality right now, join them in discovering that there is freedom in the flux and that labels are for bottles, not people.

Flux is a contemporary theatre show devised and performed by Mortal Fools Ensemble Young Company, showcasing an original soundtrack, bold set design, and the incredible talent, insights and lived experience of young people.

Binary breakers, stereotype smashers, convention clingers, people pleasers, distracted dreamers, ally activists, hopeful homebodies, evolving explorers, GOAT gamers, fashionable friends, Tik-Toking trendsetters, simping stans, radical rebels, the woke and the weird. Universally unique and all welcome here.

Flux is for teenagers, young people and adults (recommended age 11+) – it’s heart-warming, hopeful, colourful, bold, empowering, funny, poignant, thought provoking and a reminder, that you’re not alone in feeling like a “mess” sometimes.

"We’re all trying to figure this out...... and for an hour or so we’re in it together."

Tickets are now on sale:

You can see Flux at YMCA Northumberland on the 1st April. There are two performances, the first at 2pm and the second at 6pm. Note: the 6pm performance has live BSL interpretation from Caroline Ryan.
